Both the Mercury General and Cal Auto filings (+6.9%) were approved mid-month. This will be good news for tomorrow's call. If the company is writing annual policies in the former, they might be able to earn in about one-sixth of the change (approximately 1.2%) during the remainder of this year, one-third if they're writing six-month policies.
Where have all the moaners and groaners gone? Did they sell or go short? You can gripe about the company all you want; but you can't fight the ticker. Like I said before, if you're not a pig J.Wittenberg's the best stock and bond picker around. It's too bad he's not writing for MONEY and YOUR MONEY magazines any more.
I always surprised not to see posts when earnings come out. It seems to me that the future is starting to look up (a bit) and I am wondering what others are thinking...both near and long term. I have been long with MCY for 10 years or so.
