Had Gore had the good sense to use the advise and personal appeal of President Clinton in 2000, it is highly likely that he would have carried the electoral college in addition to the popular vote. We could be sitting here listening to the likes of FiBs, Maude and Canu, bitching about President Gores' policy of Internationalism, the Taliban would have been routed from Afghanistan and OBL quite likely captured or killed. Not to mention the deficit, if any, would be a small fraction of what it is. Ah to dream.
Clinton for President.. Again... Soon.
OK Harvey. Since you are content to sit there playing with yourself instead of reading and learning anything beyond your Neo nonsense, I will allow you to remain in your cesspool of ignorance. Enjoy yourself.
Alpha, cough up that hairball... Here... let me help you... Clinton did next to nothing in fighting terrorism while it gained strength during his Presidency. He was afraid to put feet on the street, the only true way to fight the infection. He once pushed some buttons and blew up a pharma plant, thinking he was getting OBL. He hit a deserted OBL training center. None of his actions permits you to extrapolate that he was capable of preventing 9-11, nor of his ability to take the fight to those that perpetrated 9-11. You may dislike Bush, and are entitled to do so. But don't go saying that Gore and Clinton had capabilities to fight terrorism better than Bush. History shows they have nothing to stand upon to make this claim. Neither should you, whether you read newspapers with your breakfast bagel or not.
Alpha, its disappointing to see that with all your vitriol, you don't feel Gore would have saved the WTC. Therefore I must remind you that Clinton was a total failure in his retaliations for Khobar, Cole, Kenya and Tanzania. More of the same would have insured failure in the 9-11 response. Your logic has gaping holes in it.
Harvey... I'm not so sure 9/11 would have happened under a Gore Presidency, but that is pure speculation. We only know that Clinton and Gore understood that OBL and Al Qaeda was the central enemy before even before 9/11, unlike Bush and Co.
I do believe, however that Clinton was moving toward confrontation with OBL and Al Qaeda and some catastrophe would have occurred jsutifying our right to respond militarilly and route Al Qaeda and the Taliban from Afghanistan. And I think further that such an Administration would not have taken its eye off the enemy--Mr. Osama Bin Laden.
Re: the banning of Clinton during the Gore campaign.
That was before we knew what lying really was. And everyone (not me) wanted to know all about the Prez's sex life, as if they had the right and to burn him at the stake if he didn't tell them.
I'm for putting up a videocamera in Bush's bedroom just to observe. A sociological field study. It's so unimaginable.
