Another poignant article by Friedman. So unlike Canudle though he strives to be:

fe403,
I believe it is the mindset of the society that is the WMD. The fanatical desire to assert control by vanquishing a peaceful opposition is what needs to be addressed. Not the machetes, not anthrax, etc. Consider Halabja...

Alpha,
You're skepticism is valid. Wilson was an experienced African and Mideast diplomat and Ambassador. He was close with Bush I and that foreign policy establishment and had serious credentials. It is not relevant who specifically sent him to Niger, because the CIA had a duty to confirm or deny the uranium claims. Whether Wilson conclusively did that I don't know. He made the case that the uranium claims were false in any case and I think he firmly believed his analysis.
Wilson may have grown to distrust Bush II but so did Brent Scowcroft and others from the president's party. Wilson is not the problem here.

DID REPORTERS NAME PLAME? That would certainly be consistent with the Rove-A-Dope strategy. Cliff May thoughts: http:/**/www.nationalreview.com/may/may200507150827.asp>. If this backfires on the press because they rushed to judgment, it could turn into another Bush triumph. I don't know yet. But it's a possibility. The press and liberals elected Bush with their juvenial attempts to demonize him with stories based upon false facts. A good story will get the democrats wipped into a frenzy.
The press motto, 'we don't need no stinking facts'.

REGARDING: Michael, it's not fraud. It's reality. It's an understanding that there is no need to repeat myself.
RESPONSE: Mr. Fraud, when one hasn't answered, in the first place, a repetition of that nonsense is not stellar; it is fraudulent, i.e., you are a fraud, pure and simple.
NOTE: I have been responsive to your comments and questions, very definitively, whereas you offer obfuscation, which appears to be intentional (obnoxious) or a result of your lack of understanding (stupid).
