    • Yo eggs... this is really amazing to find how closely we've experienced so many things in very similar ways! When I read your response to me, it made me think about my own kids, when they reach our age... and if they'll have similar stories to tell about their lives where they're philosophy was deeply seeded and as influential on them at an early age, like we've come to understand? Interesting... isn't it?

    • While my early religious training was traditional and questioning, my choice of religious belief was deism. It was and is for many of the same reasons that captured my modern era heroes the rationalists of the Enlightenment.

    • Aint rose colored glasses Bear. Perhaps you and your cohorts just need glasses.

Dont you believe in the climbing a wall of worry theory.

Sorry folks, this market/economy is only ave bad. World production is rising as is the standard of living in most of the world. How can you gurls miss so much. Is it that you talk only to yourselves and fail to see the rest of the world. Ponder.

    • "I just don't look at the church like I used to. I view them and all organized religeons as another form of government. I refuse to join any religeous organization."

Same here J4 as I haven't gone to church in many years and am skeptical of all organized religion. Pretty much the issues you cited J4 in regards to church and finances I also had to confront during my formative years which left a very bad taste in my mouth which still exists today.

I came to view the priest(s) as having feet of clay while they attempted to portray themselves as high and mighty and better than anyone else. My mother, God rest her soul, kept wanting to believe that the priests were almost God and I could never quite burst her bubble with my reality.

Then again in the here and now, on this message board, I seem to be having the same problem at times .... chuckle, chuckle!!

I think that many of us; Duck, Splits, and maybe even Alpha and Canu have many similar experiences in regards to religion or at least other life changing events which have helped mold us into survivors, and sometimes into cantankerous posters.

Yo spliter... I hope you're not gonna make another list now!!! :) I dread thinking of being on the bottom behind... you know who... I'd never get over it!!! ROTFLOL!!!

    • That's it Bear.. blame it on the media.

Suggest you read Dog's and my suggestions and stop listening to your fellow downers who seem to think that today's crisis/problmes are so unique. Stop listening to Dummyand the Dwark One, open a decent modern history text and develop some objective historical references. It will even help you become a better investor.
      Hopefully.

    • Yo eggs... I'm going to try to keep this one as brief as possible. Once again thanks for the kind words. You are a kinder gentleman than I, but that's probably from your religeous beliefs. It's a funny thing when I read you words, that it looks as though we have a lot more in common than either of us thought. I was taught by nuns and priests, but if you have closely noticed... I a bit more jaundiced and quite skeptical in everything I see hear and read. It stems from my early days as a child in parochial school. I won't go into any detail, but I guess my antennae were very sensitive to things way back in those good ole days too. A pastor of our church said some things that pertained to tything. We had almost no extra money for the bare necessities. My mother worked extra hard to make ends meet but made sure my older brother and me had the best religeous training she could give us. We always put something in the collection box every Sunday, but she just couldn't afford the amount the church asked from parishoners. She did the best she could, but that pastor made threats to post the names of the parishoners that did not meet the requirement for tything. My mother went though a terrible time and unrelenting feelings of guilt and embarrassment. That changed my whole feeling for that man and my feelings for people in that position that would be so unyielding and unsympathetic for the poorest of their parishoners. I could see it if she was a drunk, or some kind of derelict mother that abused us... but she was a wonder loving mother and I never got over that act of unkindness that was not deserved. Although I am still a firm believer in God as I was taught, I just don't look at the church like I used to. I view them and all organized religeons as another form of government. I refuse to join any religeous organization. I see the way people turn them into opressive machines that are responsible for murdering millions upon millions of people for their opposing beliefs. today we watch it on TV from the waring factions in the middle east. Humans are still the same, and I firmly believe that the world learns nothing from history. It's all there for anyone to see, from religeon to politics. But, for anyone to believe in a greater power and a God of whatever they think God is to them, then I understand them so long as they love their neighbors and allow them the freedom to believe as they chose. You can see it's difficult for me to write anything that's brief anymore... but I respect your point of view and although I have a sleightly different experience, I still thank God for my own blessings and hope that I am able to attain a blessed life after death if the Lord so deems as different in my approach as I've been. Other than that... we're hittin on all cylinders on this forum! :)
