Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things.
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
QWAK,kutzxc,My SPELLING and DYSLEXIA is NOT subject to SPELL CHECK because it hampers the flow of thoughts in my mind. It is part of ME being ME and I accept it -- if YOU do NOT it is YOUR LOSE not MY LOSE or even a SHORT COMING!
Deal with IT -- some times SLOWING you down so new concept can have a moment more to take hold is a GOOD thing. :)
QWAK,virtual_far...,When a contry must barrow $$$ just to pay the INTRIST on what it has already barrowed -- THAT is NOT "a very rich country" --- that is an IMPOVERISHED NATION selling future generations in to SLAVERY to pay the DEBT off!
You are a confused person who has NO IDEA what MONEY is and REPRESENTS!
We need free market capitalism, full private property rights, full medical freedoms, end the war on drugs.
I don't mind working, it's just that I would like to receive my full paycheck !
Even the working poor pay a lot of taxes and never see the color of that money.
So here I am, swapping paper at the stock market, producing nothing and hoping to take a lot of profits.
So I guess you're against huge tax subsidies that we legislated for oil companies all these years? And the lack of competitive pricing for prescription drugs we legislated for big pharma under Medicare D?
Give me a break.
So I guess your argument is that there are only 2 kinds of people, poor who don't work and wealthy (who may or may not work). that's a rather biased, ignorant view.
To call this facile analysis a "moral dilemma" looks like you've been brainwashed.
Missing is the Middle Class, who are disappearing, yet they built America to what it is today. btw, I know a lot of "rich" people who don't really work - they live off the work of their daddy or grandaddy. Bring back the inheritance tax - a tax that built America by making sure a blueblood class wouldn't develop here through those like you who are enamored of money and fail to see basic relationships and attributes of people beyond their $ level.
canu: This is one of your best posts. I know and see poor people that work very hard and yet are not able to get ahead because of the low wages they are paid by multi millionaires. The notion that people are poor because they don't work is purely a myth. Yes, some people are poor because of bad, uneducated choices they make. And, it is true some are to lazy to work. I also know some that inherited their parents wealth and have gone through their inheritance because they were too lazy to work and spent money foolishly. I agree that the inheritance tax needs to be brought back for estates over 4 million.
QWAK,canucanoe,Agen you grasp at the less important and totaly MISS the actual CAUSE and WHY and HOW things are as they NOW are (about to IMPLODE GLOBALY) -- this is what they KNEW would happen but did not CARE as they knew the system was a SCAM and this was just the LAST big -- GRAB as much as they could as fast as posable could befor the collaps -- the BANKERS did it ALL!
Poor people who never could actualy PAY were PONS nothing more!
