Thought something looked wrong, checked with mojo, "Pirates/misfits", a new clay figure animation commercial is showing Sony taking credit for "from the producers of chicken run and wallace & grommit". Wasn't chicken run DWA?
Oh, the characters are never "played out". Your children's, children's, children, etc.
will be watching Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, etc, and, I could be misreading, but I am hearing things that indicate Kung Fu Panda really resonated with the children of the Middle Kingdom.
The NAIL ON THE HEAD. Disney has the resources.
I've always liked DWA, but it's apples and oranges to Pixar. BACKGROUND detail is one of
Disney's calling cards. Pixar has it, DWA doesn't. DWA's doing well for itself with great plans forward, but the characters have been played out. Nick's got 2 series going and that could put their characters in Nick parks. Good going forward, but not Disney material, that's why they got Pixar.
Read Igars comments in the new Steve Jobs book. DIS engine NEEDS new characters to REALLY hum. DIS knows this, and $2.5 billion dollar check to buy the future value of that annuity would be a GIFT, FOR DIS. May or may not happen, I just FIRMLY believe the VALUE is there.
Disney has TREMENDOUS resources to efficiently monetize, and monetize it to infinity and beyond. Existing DWA I/P, plus what's in the pipe, plus new, will be monetized from now till the end of time with every generation of children that come along.
He was the center of the 1st X-men the way they
did the movie. It worked, so they tried with him again, then they went back to the group.
As you said, they pick the content and monetize.
The green hornet being a dufus was off, but I
guess that was their comedy side for a mix.
Marvel was an opportunity to monetize. What
pieces of DWA haven't been already? They're
trying to do the same thing, monetize.
I think DWA is VERY HIGH QUALITY content (that offers an annuity revenue stream), and I believe our GENIUS analysts have vastly under appreciated that, along with how the Middle Kingdom will take to Kung Fu Panda.
OK, they chose the ones they liked and made movies etc. from them. Marvel worked cuz there
was unused territory for the product.
Would they feel that way about DWA ?
I still feel they made their choice with Pixar.
It's like Coke vs. Pepsi, they got Coke, and
they're happy with it. Even the parks have used
Pixar, they fit the empty spaces.
