Well, you couldn't have had too much profit. Even if you shorted at $23 you had to pay out the distribution and then you'll have taxes on a short-term gain. So you're pretty much at $0.
I agree, let's see how the earnings go. I've been in this stock since 2001 at $15 per share and collected $24 worth of distributions and still have an investment valued at $22 per share. Not a bad ride for me. I have a stop-loss at $21 to protect my profits and I hope it never triggers. If it does go down into the teens again I'll watch it and buy back in at a lower level...
I didn't pay the distribution. I used puts. I shorted once at $22 and then again at $23 and $23.40. My average was around $22.80. I had some profit but now I'm shorting again.
I was a buyer when this stock was in the low to mid teens but I like this stock less and less every quarter. Looks like a screaming sell to me.
