'Discount' is most likely based on 'present value' basis of the money. The cash is paid up front....the gold flow starts in 3 years and is delivered over the next 30 yrs. You wouldn't pay full market price up front for a car that wasn't going to be delivered to you for say 15 years. Hope this helps! Good luck if you are long!
