I have some questions on the dividend that I could use some smart help with. The trailing dividend is about how I calculate it (3.5%) and it is correct in the key statistics in Yahoo. But the forward-looking dividend is 6% and I do not understand that. It also shows they are paying out 103% of what they earn so I am wondering how secure that dividend is??? Any help for this non Wall Street guy would be appreciated.
Foreign stocks don't handle their dividends the same as domestic companies. Some of them just distribute a percentage of their profits and the dividend fluctuates. And some of them don't issue the dividends quarterly. In 2005 SID spit out a huge dividend. I had 600 shares and got a $1995 dividend in one distribution. I don't remember the share price, but it seems it was about an 18% dividend.
I see what you are saying now, but I did not buy it before the split so I did not get that benefit. I didn't even know about it until you pointed it out. Thanks for the info. I guess Yahoo will catch-up someday. I still like the stock because of the Brazillian economy though.
