Ontario Teachers' Fund Buys Deutsche Telekom, NTT Shares

April 4 (Bloomberg) -- Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, which leads a group that agreed to pay C$51.7 billion ($51.3 billion) for BCE Inc., also poured more than C$1 billion into Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG and other phone stocks as part of a global bet on the industry.
Canada's third-largest pension fund manager held 46.6 million Deutsche Telekom shares valued at C$1 billion as of Dec. 31, according to its annual report. A year earlier, Deutsche Telekom wasn't among the fund's holdings of more than C$100 million. Teachers' oversees C$108.5 billion, 47 percent of which is invested in equities.
