Keep hearing rumors to the effect Deutsche
Telecom is preparing to launch a bid for Qwest who are
currently in the process of buying U S West, etc. Anyone
else heard this rumor or is that all it is... .rumor?
DT is either going to acquire Cable&Wireless, or
they are going to be the winners in acquiring
Britain's One 2 One, which happens to be a mobile phone
company. One 2 One currently owns 18% of the UK market,
and DT feels as if they have an opportunity to expand
in this market. If they choose to pursue

However IF Qwst does indeed get both USW and FRO, the
insider stranglehold on the stock will not be as strong.
But even if this happens it will be at least 1 year
in the future. BLS could also make a bid at that

bid that can be shot down at this point. Look for
expansion in the Internet area, and/or bids for TEF or
Colt. This would seem to make much more sense to me.

When it made the
initial bid for US West & Frontier, company denied it
would sweeten the bid (though we know it subsequently
did). These guys are pretty good poker players, and
they seem to have the newz leaks well
Bottom line, anything's possible, and everyone has their
price. Even Anshutz. IMHO
