see this langauge on the Google site again, as I think there is something about this quote that is now even more relevant:
"In addition to these features from Postini now included with Premier Edition, Google Apps administrators can leverage Postini's other offerings to secure all of their electronic communications -- email, instant messaging and the web. Postini solutions can also make it easy to meet their archiving and encryption needs. Visit the Postini website to learn more."
for the reasons set forth below, I am now 100% certain that the phrase "leverage Postini's other offerings" means literally, for now, THAT YOU CANNOT HAVE ENCRYPTION DIRECTLY FROM GOOGLE APPS BUT THAT YOU HAVE TO SEPARATELY USE POSTINI TO GET IT
IMO, this is a very important distinction for today
herE is why I know (NOT THINK) this to be the case
see this Goolge website summarizing gmail and notice that it never uses the word "encryption" anywhere, and does not even touch the topic of email transmission security at all (I do not think this is accident)

next, and more importantly, see this quote from another portion of the Google enterprize gmail website:
"Postini options not included in Google Apps:
Postini provides a variety of services in addition to Policy Management and Message Recovery. This includes communications security and compliance tools, such as mail encryption, compliance archiving, and regulatory compliance functionality. More information can be found at http://www.postini.com."

so now we know that as of now, Google still has NO direct encryption capacity of its own
THINK ABOUT IT
Google has very publicly, and repeatedly, announced its plans to attack the enterprize email world with a complete high level corporate email solution ... but it intends to do so with absolutely NO encryption of any kind available directly in its enterprize email apps? you have to separately use Postini, on a non-integrated basis, to get encryption on Google email?
is this how Google intends to proceed, long-term?
seeing how Google handles everything else it does, I think NOT
I believe there is going to come a day, verrrrrrrrrrry sooooooooooooon, when Google will have direct encryption capacity in all of its gmail apps plastered all over its website, just like it now has for several other email management tools it has already built DIRECTLY into its enterprize level gmail apps
and the central question remains?
WHO WILL PROVIDE THAT ENCRYPTION CAPACITY DIRECTLY TO GOOGLE FOR ALL OF ITS GMAIL APPLICATIONS?
WILL IT BE THE SAME ENTITY THAT CURRENTLY PROVIDES THE SAME ENCRYPTION TO GOOGLE'S WHOLLY OWNED SUBSIDIARY, POSTINI?
WHAT WOULD SUCH A RELATIONSHIP BE $WORTH$ TO SUCH AN ENCRYPTION PROVIDER?

GOOG bought Postini.com on 6/9/2007 for $625 million in cash and plans an ipo spinoff. i'm not sure this will be the case, because the price of the Gmail enterprice service can not go too high, to be competitve .
so they may keep POSTINY services seperatly in order to got the extre fee for it,

With encryption, healthcare and banking related industries and general users can be secure exchanging protected information.
Only means it won't be too hard to get both companies and individuals to opt for encryption when available as an add-on service.
Wish we could get some kind of PR or industry analysis to explain the financial implications of the GOOG/Postini/ZIX connection. I see ZIX as the linchpin for GOOG's e-mail and other file transfer security services.
It will soon become much clearer. Have a prosperous New Year...

if it was not plain to understand all those calls that were SOLD a few days back when Z traded over 5.20, today should remove any doubt.
also remember that a whole bunch of 2.50's were traded too.
4 bucks and lower coming sooner that u think to theater near U.
5 buck jan call will be worthless as zix'x corp update will be filled with empty promises. I am beginning to wonder whether rick will actually be cash flow B/E either.
in any event Z should continue to trade back into the 3's until the middle of next week or later.
Ricky will most probably sit on and GOOG announcement until the rest of Haywoods stars come into alignment, In my book that wont be until our lackluster congress gets of its perverbial buttocks, now that the budget bills are scammed into the cosmos.
