Fortune magazine did a nice article on VW

It was about VW being the largest auto manufacturer in Europe. I saw somewhere, all the different models they have now.
One word that wasnt mentioned was quality.
They build them in Mexico and Brazil.
I had a 1998 VW. One time I took it in for service, and they charged me to tell me how much it would cost to fix everything.
It was cheaper to fix, than buy a new one.
Lets see, Sunroof, heated seat, cruise control, abs , 2 recalls, continental tires that had tire separation on all 4 tires, and when I sold it with 90,000 miles, it was just starting to have trouble with sludge buildup in the engine. The person I sold it to had the engine fail around 150,000 miles.
It did get great gas mileage.
Its a good thing too, that gas savings helped me pay for repairs.
But it will be a while till I ever buy another VW.
No, I didnt see fortune mention quality.
