    overdue correction

anybody who is surprised by the 7.5% fall in japan today should avoid the financial markets. the run-up over the past few months here has been truly spectacular. days like today are necessary.
every market is dominated by lemmings-the nikkei even more so.
i picked up shares in 3 firms just before the close. IIJ was one.
i'll be on the prowl again tomorrow if the sell-off continues.

    • bought again today. if it falls more i will step up purchases.
keep in mind who IIJ hired as their president a few months ago(with suzuki san still the CEO). katsu san was the #2 man at the ministry of finance. the gov't is about to spend billions and billions on IT projects. have a look at the article posted below and don't for a minute think that IIJ will not share in the riches. katsu san is there to facilitate contracts with the gov't. don't sweat the moves downward in the stock price.

IT Firms Vie For Slice Of Govt ID Business

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Japanese and foreign IT firms are gearing up for a potential flood of business, if the government's proposed individual identification number system for tax payments and welfare benefits goes ahead.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, right, meets with Trade Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on May 23.
Japan's IT market has been stagnant in recent years. But some observers say the ID system could create 3 trillion yen in new business for the industry.

The government is most likely to pass a bill authorizing the "My Number system" during the current Diet session. That will clear the way for a partial rollout in October 2015. The government will then issue ID cards to every Japanese citizen, starting in January 2016.

My comment-Microsoft will not be getting much business for these privacy sensitive affairs.

      • bought once again. i was actually hoping for steeper declines in IIJ to really ramp up purchases but it didn't happen. some of the small and mid-caps on the mothers and jasdaq exchanges here saw capitulation so that's where i concentrated my purchases. i feel very confident going forward although it might still take some additional volatility.
for those who are more patient than me it looks like you will get some great buying opportunities soon. well done!

    • I have zéro iij share since two weeks, but will return to the market at $15 to $15.30.
      Best of luck!
