    What did Parker mean when he said ....

    Parker mentioned that it would be cheaper to merge with AMR while it was in BK. Why? Are there accounting benefits to merge with a company while in BK? Did he think that two standalone airlines would have a more difficult time merging (approvals, etc)?

    • ... and is it not silly to value AMR equity at a fraction of a billion (~3.5% or nothing). It's scandalous.
      I am amazed how well this deal is structured, and how atypical it is in Wall Street.
      How unique this merger is with varied parties unanimously supporting ... and I am not kidding.
      There are couple of PhD theses, text books, best sellers, documentaries here ...I digress.
      The recent low rate financing, airline order locks for many years supply, ...
      Wait till LCC-AMR join indices, mutual funds buyings ...
      Monetizing the profits captured by middlemen like Priceline etc.,
      How big is Priceline ... 55B, 35 PE ripe for the picking ...
      They can revolutionize the catalog selling ...from trinkets to LG and Samsung appliances for heaven sake ...
      My ..! I was looking at those Fridges and Washer & dryers for 1000+ to 2000 apiece ...

      Legacy airlines should be the Apple of transportation! (high margin, best service)

      If I were apple, I would have bought LCC-AMR! and some Exploration and production ...
      There are some good deals out there ... SFY was 45.00, 2 years ago 15-ish rising from 11...

      The compare chart over 1, 2 and 5 years is very interesting! amazing hedge in my portfolio!

      But for AAMRQ creditors doing some smart stuff - to take it all for themselves (for example: Bain Capital style making aamrq worthless), aamrq by itself should be worth at least what it trades for now; much better (2 to 4 fold in 2 months to 2 years) with merger. At this point I think, the Bain style outcome is very unlikely.
