Hi ... I am trying to get a position in DODGX - Dodge & Cox Stock Fund. Is there anybody willing to "gift" me a share to start a position where I can buy more? I will pay you for the share and for the effort to transfer. I'm a long term investor and need a starting position. None of my friends / family have a position in DODGX to transfer to me. HELP!
#1) Anyone who has ever sold dodgx in order to chase returns in another fund is an idiot, plain and simple. There may always be a reason to sell (like, you need the money for something); but selling this thing in order to chase another funds returns is a sign that you need to go back to class for remedial training in investing.
#2) See no. 1 above.
#3) I don't see any signs of asset bloat yet. DODGX does not now, nor has it in the past, been one to churn its shares. Look at the average hold time of stocks in the portfolio. This allows them to move money into and out of a company in a reasonable fashion.
No... this is one that you keep, plain and simple. None better.
Those etf's have done great, but, IMO, they have gotten ahead of themselves and are unlikely to sustain the same growth rate. I've paired back on similar funds (just sold fxi) as the pe ratio's now far exceed their expected growth rate.
I am a little late in seeing this... but I am also looking for a few hard to get closed Mutual Funds.... Hello,
I am looking to establish a position in DODGX and DODBX. If I have 1 share of each gifted to me I would be able to continue to purchase the stocks. Does anyone have shares in each? If you do I would give you $300 + the cost of 1 share of each fund. I am also looking for LLPFX.
If you have the shares and would be willing to give up 1 share, please let me know.
Count me among those surprised to see people clamoring to buy in. Over 10 years, yes this fund has been awesome. In the last 2 years, it has underachieved. Given it's size, that doesn't bode well.
I'm now looking at reducing my position and picking up a fund with fewer assets and better future prospects. But my broker will not let me sell shares to a 3rd party.
At 150+ you won't make a lot here. Also it is closed except to 401k plans. Now DODFX is 48+ and has potential to grow as DODGX had and it is still open to buy through your broker. Act quick they are talking about closing it also
Curious why you'd want to get into DODGX. They can't even keep up with the S&P 500 this year. They have a great record over past years but I notice a definite trend toward mediocrity since they got so big and closed the fund.
that is true.
i've had it for years in both my IRA and 401-k and i notice it has been kind of lukewarm for awhile -
maybe due to its size. i guess i'll keep it due to its track record though. that and i'm afraid if i left then it'll catch up, like moving to a faster lane in the supermarket.
I am looking for 1 share at fair market value plus a reasonable agreed upon fee for doing the transfer. If you are interested can you post your contact info or call me at 916-501-8787 and we can discuss terms. I'm a simply guy looking to get a position. I'd really appreciate it and hopefully make it worth you while too. - Pat
