the international market was really a no brainer this year, heck all the international countries had a banner year ( double digit profits) Asia, Europe, Canada, China, India to name a few. You could have threw a dart in the direction of any of this countries and made a ton of money this year. In fact most of the international fund managers did make a ton of money for there shareholders.... but not our fund manager just look at the crap this fund manager is buying us, no wonder we had a paltry year (under 2% gain for the year.) By the time this fund manager takes out his fees and expenses for the year I'll be lucky to break even!
Yeah, kind of spotty performance for a large cap Int fund--Funny thing is his small cap Int has done much better and it's portfolio is also better diversified. Why OAKIX has almost no exposure to the industrial materials sector is puzzling, since that has been one of the drivers of performance for both domestic and Int funds.
yahoo had a sell on oakmark mo's ago, just said that we should take our enormous profits [long gone now],and it was a 'sell"...should have listened. he is a top mgr, but,it was time to move in new direction. they pulled this fund out of finance section,as one of top 50 funds.really thought something worse happened.this is bad enough, but hate to pull out now.he is not a retard, brilliant reputation,so,I HOPE he will prove it!!!"granny franny'
