Haven't checked this board in a long time, but
saw your post from a month ago. Planar Systems has
decided to get out of the AMLCD business. They are
processing the last of their customer orders now and when
those orders are completed (March to June 2001
timeframe), that's it, the AMLCD line will be shut down. They
have been out of row drivers for a couple of months
now, so no new units have shipped since July. Their
customers are in a panic.
Everyone seems to be
buying now from American Panel Corp. (APC) in
Alpharetta, GA. APC is coming up to speed but progress will
be slower than what their customers would like.
Their product line has yet to be fully qualified for a
military operating enviornment.
There was an article in last Sunday's Denver Post
about this Company. Was even on the front page of the
business section. You might check and see if you can pull
it up on-line. Wasn't derogatory, kind of nailed the
FDA for it's lengthy, time-consuming process. I guess
the company is now located in Denver. Not a
shareholder but have checked the company since the article. I
bought SRMI, another digital x-ray company awhile back,
that's why the article caught my attention.
Galt, I wd be interested in yr comments on the
new fellow COO trying to turn this company around. At
a recent meeting he seemed to be saying that some
of the hard work has been done, and that he at least
saw the light at the end of the tunnel. A manager who
has left the company said that he thought this new
fellow was truly positive, an that a few good things
were happening. Moreover, unlike previous qtly
comments, management was positive about coming qters. CEO
Nields continues to buy stock this month. Stk is selling
at 1/7 of sales. Let me know yr thoughts Galt.
It is unfortunate that the people they got rid of
in service are the only people making a $$profits$$
for Fischer. The service organization has
historically for the last four or five years turned a profit,
unlike the rest of the company. Morgan Nields and the
entire Board must wake up and realize the hack they
brought in will destroy the company.
You got it! Produce,be positive and create. Too
few people doing that. That's the type of people
needed at Fischer... not politicos and b.s. artists and
prima donnas, big spenders and people expert at
documenting failure and talking doomsday.
