From Yahoos business summary profile of F5 (FFIV):
F5 Networks Inc. is engaged in Internet Traffic Management (ITM) and delivers application aware networks through its open Internet Control Architecture. F5 features a set of integrated products and services that manage, control and optimize Internet traffic and content. Its solutions automatically and intelligently deliver high quality Internet performance and availability for service providers, enterprises and e-businesses. The products remove bandwidth congestion and optimize the availability and speed of mission-critical Internet servers and applications, including Web publishing, content delivery, e-commerce, caching, firewalls and more.
They have an enterprise value of $300 billion, 490 employees, and $108 million in revenue last year with an $8.6 million loss.
So my questions are: How does this differ from INAP? What are application aware networks? How are they able to manage, control and optimize Internet traffic? How are they able to remove bandwidth congestion and optimize the availability and speed? Who are these guys? They are based in Seattle. Any of them formerly with INAP?
From their company list, it appears that F5 and INAP are the only established companies competing in the space and in fact they are complimentary IMO. Continiued good news for INAP. BTW note that they list the ability to route for cost as important. AS4 where are you?
