As far as the new items, and I have a lifetime of history in various aspects of dairy retail and marketing. The chances of the iced coffee launch succeeding are slim. Unless it is far superior from prior iced coffee launches by other companies over the years, people will just not buy it. It might be a good seasonal item, maybe, but might see that discontinued in a year or two. There never is a guarantee with new launches.
The fruit protein drink, if it is a soy based product, has a better chance. Vanilla and chocolate have done extremely well over the years. Strawberry, peach, kiwi, and even a boysenberry would do well. These have been hot items in yogurt for their antioxidant qualities. Kiwi and boysenberry have in recent years found their niche. Strawberry banana has never sold. Hope they did a few small market tests to get a handle on acceptance.
If some of these take hold and create incremental sales and new customers, this will do well for margins at the whitewave division.
