DGX treats their people badly across the board like pawns on a chess board with no respect but wastes money like through a bucket with a hole in it and doesn't listen to reason.
LH on the other hand treats their people with fairness though they follow strict SOP to the letter and spend money as if it belonged to them personally like opening a dusty change purse reluctantly.

I worked for Covance, one of the spinoffs with Quest from Corning . It was Hazleton Labs then and they treated their labor force like expendable hardware. The better you were at your work, the more they tried to drive you away. So I am not surprised to hear you say the same of Quest.
I worked for both of them and in my view point they're both class companies. Only after you've worked for crummy outfits can you appreciated the good ones. I've done it . LH and DGX are good companies striving to achieve great things and in turn positively affecting their employees. Not an easy task however and when you look at it only from your prospective you'll only see part of the story.
