I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but once again I turn on the TV this morning and Bloomberg running a negative non-story that handbag sales may slow. This is almost identical to a story they ran about six weeks ago. This despite the company continually saying quite the opposite. Somebody there has it in for COH and is acting as an echo chamber for the bears.
I think you folks are talking about small factors. Overall buying power of average Japanese people is getting lower every year due to losses to Chinese and other Asian countries where labor rates are lower. Also they are burden with aged population and their political leadership problems. COH will start to feel Japanese contribution fading. I believe Institutions are starting to distance themselves gradually from COH ;that is what you see in technical analysis ,look carefully into 6 month chart, it tells coming story.
yeah, either that or they want to artificially suppress the stock so they can then get in on it. Barron's is famous for that. Remember whene the said goog wsa too high at 450? And the stock dropped to 400 in a day. Perfect to buy, now is at 600. Watch COH have inline qtr as usual, and better than expected next year via their implementation of new stores, and new product models. Is a 62 dollar stock...
I actually expect them to report a better than expected quarter as they get a boost from a stronger yen. Last quarter Japanese sales were up 22% in yen but only 17% in dollars, look for a reversal of that this quarter
A lot of words that say mostly nothing. Handbag sales may have peaked, handbags have to compete against jewelry and shoe sales, Coach sales could go down if the economy weakens or they can't design something that their customers want. Pure speculation of what could go wrong with very little factual support except for what others are speculating. And the surveys obviously say nothing because they change at will depending upon who is contacted and when contacted. And let us not to forget to throw in that gas price argument that Bears have been using for how many months now? The only facts that are important in the story are the sales figures and they don't exactly support a Bear attitude for makers of luxury goods.
