This may be old news, but I just learned that while our power was out that several non-union electrical companies from down south were not allowed to support the IBEW efforts. In fact, it wasn't just the city but non-union workers were not allowed anywhere in the state.
This is no different than price gouging and is just as criminal. Of course, those are two things our unions are good at.
"Alabama power companies are denying a local TV station's report that linemen who had traveled to New Jersey from Alabama (a right to work state) to help restore power to those hit hard by Superstorm Sandy were told they could not work there because they were non-union."
Look up the title for this article: "Ala. utilities: Our crews not turned away from N.J."
