Other than a heart attack, brain tumor or other like event ... I think 4 Armored SUV's, 32 heavily armored security personnel and helicopter support would make getting close enough rather low. However I do appreciate your point.
I think this is his last year as I remember him stating that he did not want take another term. I think that's a really good choice. Having a spartan running around during peace time is a liability.
The times have changed and we need a Fed chairman that's going to be hawkish on monetary policy. Ben saved the universe and the history books are going to reflect that but he needs to cede power to the peace lovers now that the war's over.
I disgagree strongly that Bernanke saved the world.
1. It is not saved.
2. He put it at risk IMO. He is the one man who might have prevented the 08 crash and he totally misjudged the situaton. By acting much earlier to lower fed fund rates and/or to insure the 30 day paper of money mkt funds before Lehman collapsed, then The Reserve Fund would never have had to "Break the Buck" to its depositors and precipitate the run on the shadow banking system that caused the credit crunch which brought down the whole system.
