Texas Professor Calls Sen. Ted Cruz An ‘Idiot’ Over Filibuster
Texas A&M University Professor Danny Yeager on Tuesday called Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) an “idiot” and an obstructionist, describing the lawmaker’s filibuster as ”ridiculous.”
“I think Ted Cruz is an idiot,” Yeager, a chemistry professor and advisor to the Texas Aggie Democrats, told The Battalion campus newspaper “The legislation was passed four years ago with a large majority. He is obstructing what’s going on in the Senate and the will of the people.”
“We should not be having a filibuster where the majority obviously favors what’s going on in terms of the [Affordable Care Act], and it should not be subjected to a filibuster where one senator who is way out of the mainstream of American politics can stop what’s being done,” Yeager added. “It’s totally ridiculous.”
Not to be outdone, the group Yeager advises – the Texas Aggie Democrats – chipped in with their own statement that Cruz is just grandstanding:
“Due to this filibuster’s inability to impact legislation, it is apparent that Senator Ted Cruz is using his elected position to stand in the national spotlight in order to further his own personal and political agenda. The senator is showing a supreme lack of consideration for his constituents and his actions are embarrassing to Texans.”
A politician finally stands up for his principles and for what his voters elected him into office for and people slander him. Personally, I just think the left is scared of him as are a few RINOs like McCain on the "right".
"A politician finally stands up for his principles" are you serious? He stood up for his principles? Really? Then why did he vote "YES" with everyone else on the Senate's plan to continue funding the government that strips out the House provision/language to defund Obamacare? Didn't TED tell everyone he was prepared to do "whatever it took" to make sure Obamacare never gets funded? If that's what you call standing up for your principles you clearly have no clue what that really means do you?
Always two sides to every story. Cruz hoping to rally support from majority of people against Obamacare to call their Congresspeople and demand action. It just didn't seem to work. It was a last ditch effort. Nothing idiotic about it.
I guess you don't follow politics very closely. ObamaCare was already passed into law a few years ago. There has been 41 or 42 times that the Republicans have unsuccessfully tried to overturn/amend the law. The vote in the Senate was 100 to 0 (including your boy Cruz) to vote on the bill that Cruz tired to filibuster. His own party did not support his extreme actions. Are you getting the picture yet or are you just another obtuse uninformed poster on this board?
