    Treasury nearly doubles T-bill sales

NEW YORK -- The Treasury Department said Thursday that it would nearly double the amount of short-term Treasury bills it will sell next week. The government will sell $42 billion of 3-month T-bills 3_MONTH +16.39% on Feb. 13, compared with a $28 billion sale of the same notes last week. The Treasury will also sell $42 billion of 6-month T-bills 6_MONTH +7.58% on Feb. 10, compared with a size of $20 billion this week. The Treasury has been reducing the size of its T-bill sales to comply with a limit on its cash balance when the debt-ceiling suspension expires on Feb. 7. After that deadline, the Treasury does not have a limit on cash, so will increase the size to meet its funding needs, according to Nancy Vanden Houten of Stone & McCarthy Research Associates
