    Layoffs, Cutting Costs???

What's next? ARW is laying off people and cutting expenses, yet they hire more Infosys people to complete
their 400 million dollar boondoggle ERP.

At what point is this company a buy? 29 is rapidly approaching; a few billion in market value is gone. Is there a growth story or will it just be more cost cutting in North America?

    • Your right on the mark. It's become a global market and resources are available for less money and happy to do it outside of NA .. We need to adapt and change to reap the rewards. Shift of resources and headcount for sure. We need to find additional ways to add value in NA. If you look at many industries this has already happened and the ones who survive learn how to embrace and adapt. To win you have to provide the service at a lower cost structure then anyone else can in the industry. Drive costs down , supplement the labor force with lower cost people and expand in higher margin business segments. Ie, grow financing, higher end systems and value add division..

      what is an ERP?

    • Avnet definately #1
      Arrow #2
Future should be between $2.8Bil and $2.9Bil.
      Bell Micro #4
      TTI #5 @ $1.3 Bil
Digikey closing in on $1.0Bil in Calendar 2007.

      Investments better in Energy.

    • Hey Mr. M. why don't you give back some of your bonus money?
Oh, maybe you think you deserve it by laying off people and penny pinching raises etc. That is no great feat of business acumen. Anyone can come up with that. I think that recent results show that something is wrong with the direction the company is in. We as shareholders need to ask questions and vote appropriately at the annual shareholders meeting.

    • Multiply sales of assigned accounts from previous year by two. Assign this number as "budget." Inform sales person that many of those that did not meet budget last year were terminated.

    • Steps in the EPR process at Arrow:

1: Fill out a self assessment form.
2: Managers will evauate the self assessment form.
3: Recomendations are made for each employee.
4: Recomendations are sent to senior management for approval.
5: Recomendations are approved or sent back for re-evaluation.
6: After approvals are complete the employee will set an appointment with their manager for a one on one meeting.
5: In preparation for an employee's one on one with their manager it is highly suggested that they go to their local drug store to buy a tube of KY.
6: Employee meets with their manager and utilizes the above mentioned ointment.

I hope this was helpful and sets the record straight.

    • I'm sure it means that in the past, employees have been open and honest in answering the culture survey(an internal survey of employees) and the managers/senior managers got very low ratings. The EPR(employee performance reviews) are starting now so... I think you can figure out the rest!

    • <<Payback comes when the manager writes the EPRs and now it the cycle is complete.>>

      Can you clarify this?

    • A lot of the employees do not believe that the survey is annonymous. The company has employees making lemonade in their pants worring about losing their jobs. Some of the brave ones will answer truthfully but many will not. It's understandable that people want to keep their jobs, so don't count too much on the results of the survey.
