Anyone more up to date than me on the inner workings of corporate America, care to offer an explanation for why CG might choose, at this time, to announce in the am rather than after market close? Is it just that he has to get to his sons recital that day, or is there some well known reason a CEO often chooses to announce before market opens when afterwards has been the norm?
Most major announcements in biotech come in pre-market. No one cares about the earnings it what he has to say in the conference call. Just my gut, this will be the news that we have all been waiting for and he will further telegragh at upcoming Cowen Conference on Mar 4. Once that conference is complete I think the stock will take off.
It's more in keeping if the 8 o'clock business is just Chris giving the institutional investors one more chance to disappoint the victims of the hyped "moment". When Chris was on the West coast an 8 am call would mean getting out of bed at about 3 am. Now an 8am call coincides with the beginning of his work day in Boston. My money is on a final set-up to shake the tree and add a few more percentages to the inst. invester ranks. Sorry.
I would think this,FDA meeting conflict could be possible or over loaded with to much at that time.
a huge host of possibles.Partner talks,FDA,other meetings,Government contracts.Buyout talks, one thing for sure we will see...............
The company is holding a cocktail reception for the Duchenne Alliance at 6 pm that evening at the company headquarters in Cambridge. March 7th is the first day of a four day annual conference of the International Duchenne Alliance. This could explain why the earnings broadcast has been scheduled for the morning.
I think there has to be more to it than a cocktail reception that management scheduled themselves. That said, I'm unaware of precedent for this sort of change in scheduling.
I have to believe CG thought it somehow beneficial to deviate from his established pattern. But I've yet to figure out why he would choose to do so. Not have I heard any reasonable theories that explain this move at this time, long or short.
Possibly, but I would argue they would then release the night before to be consistent with past practice. It doesn't make sense to change the process unless there is a really good reason.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
