Both drugs work the same way except for different numbers they skip. What makes investors in SRPT think that their drug will ultimately succeed where Prosena's failed. I know that SRPT has already shown that young men have walked on their drug. But who's to say that in the next trials serious complications don't arise. My biggest concern is continued use of their drug.will lead to (PERHAPS), severe cardiovascular abnormalities from neurological wiring running amok as a side effect OF THIS MEDICATION.. Remember this is a totally new approach to a severely debilitating neurological disease. To think that any Co. is going to hit a homerun first time at bat would seem to a long shot(no pun intended) I know there was money to be here I just think there's more downside risk than upside at present. Convince me otherwise. Thank You! P.S. Before the shorty talk starts I'm not short SRPT. I'm actually very interested in this Co. & it's biotechnology.
Cardiovascular side effects??? Dude, google DMD and see what the prognosis is for these kids. This has been a miracle for the few kids who have received it. It is simple do not over think it and cover your short
Since it appears to be a major challenge for you to determine how eteplirsen can be effective when drisapersin isn't, I'll make it simple for you.
Hold up one of your hands and extend one finger. Now hold up your other hand and extend all four of your fingers and your thumb. That's the difference. Eteplirsen is being dosed at 5 times what Drisapersin was dosed at.
The science works, but if you can't deliver it at an effective dose due to toxicity (Drisa), it won't work.
If you're a short, I would advise you to cover. 96 wk data will be out soon and the results won't be the same as GSK/RNA
Its better than Prosensa's because it is non-toxic.
It is non-toxic because it is a different molecule altogether, one that specifically intereacts only with its target, and nothing else. Prosensa's drug interacts with target in a different way, and the body reacts to it in a different way.
All imho do your own f594kin due diligence and learn some basic biochemistry.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
What I understand is that NO Co. has as yet achieved what they are attempting to do. I hope & pray for the victims, families & yes investors, that Sarepta will succeed on their first attempt. I just tossed out a couple of far flung side effect possibilities yet you have to know how complicated the human body is & how low the potential is, that at this stage most any of a myriad of downside outcomes exist.(at this point due to Prosena's results are now much more possible) Listen, if you hook a dead frog up to electricity it at times hops & almost appears alive. Was the walking of those boys on SRPT's drug a most sophisticated way to elicit a physical kneejerk reaction(walking ,albeit temporary?). I pray that this is not the case.
