They buy every in bulk. They buy 2 bag of potatoes or two bottles of Aspirin (400 tablets per bottle) for family of two. On top of that they buy shrimps that imported from the polluted third world country, Vietnam where human waste and shrimps coexist. Smart very smart, $50/year upfront just becoming a Costco customer. For every 1 million customers, Costco makes $50 million just to give you the right to get in the store.
They charge you to shop there? Where did you ever come up with such an absurd idea? No one would be THAT stupid!
Such a bad idea that Sam Walton copied it and founded Sam's Club?

hey cloree, can you believe they charge for cable tv??? I went to the super bowl this year and couldn't get in because they said I had to pay for a ticket! Pay to see a football game??? I can play it for free .... so I left ...DDDUUUUMMMMMMYYYYY
This is quite possibly the dumbest post ever on Yahoo.
"I don't come here for English lesson and I didn't ask you to teach me English. If you want to give free lessons, there plenty of Spanish customers at CostCo."
Most illiterate folk don't want to become educated, so I understand your comments.
You should reconsider your position as you'll never be taken seriously and you'll never make anything of yourself.
Can't teach stupid...
It is fun to shop at coctco. They provide good quality products at reasonal price and you can shop almost every thing there at one stop. You got it!
OK
so how any shares do you hold short genius?
I like the shrimps they sell, and hope they bring gooses to the meat dept soon! Your messages explain why you would rate this stock a "strong sell."
I wonder if their PURE PROFIT membership fees--while providing service and value--have anything to do with this stock being at a multi year high. You said it...every 1 million members equals (minimum) $50 million to the bottom line. STRONG BUY!!!
I don't come here for English lesson and I didn't ask you to teach me English. If you want to give free lessons, there plenty of Spanish customers at CostCo.
Not everything at Costco is bulk..mostly the food and consumables (toilet paper, tooth paste, coffee) and some items that businesses re-sell. When it comes to things like toys, video games, seasonal items, you can save a ton of money especially if you live in an area with limited shopping options as I do. Anything I can freeze such as meats, I buy bulk and save lots of money on.
Forgot to add that if you pay for top membership level, you get a rebate check which usually pays for the membership costs anyways so who cares about the small fees up front.
I see, so you are a lonely single male who has no one to care for, that makes a ton of sense.
Americans have way too much money to pay for the right to shop at a store. Keep the unemployment benefits coming as life is good.
Who needs a bottle of Aspirin with 400 tablets? A family of ten could barely finish 100 tablets in 3 years, by that time the Aspirin is expired, but two? That is joke. Whose family in the world would eat one or two bag of potatoes? They will be rotten by the time finishing the bags. It happened to a few families I know, they bought everything in bulk, need it or not.
