The average Costco customer saves about $20 a week on groceries compared to major grocers in their market areas. That comes to $2600.
$55 to save $2600?
Stand outside a Costco and watch the carts.
Especailly since Walmart and others have raised shelf prices, more customers are getting smart about comparing prices per pound, per ounce ESPECIALLY ON NON-PERISHABLES such as paper products, soaps, juices, sodas, canned goods, and toiletries/personal care, books, electronics, and small appliances.
Most people overspend at Costco vs at a grocery store. Who the hell needs a 12 pack of toothpaste? The "savings" is hard to calculate. I don't own Costco but I wouldn't sell here. Also, I'm pretty sure the membership fee is annual.
You're clueless! Why would you buy top rated meat or anything else and freeze it? What a waste! Where I live Kroger has the best meat in the city and it's priced cheaper then Costco. Kroger also has their fruit ( Grapes, Peaches, Oranges, Pears, Etc. ) all priced at 30 to 50 percent under Costco. Every-time I go to Costco the Strawberries have mold in them, what's with that? This stock is priced to perfection. And if it ever gets out about what they're charging those poor-fools who don't do their homework. Sales could tank really fast.
Also, Kroger gives you up to a dollar off a gallon of gas ( Up to 35 gallons ) at their fuel centers! That's enough to fill three of my cars. My Costco has some of the highest fuel prices in the area! So why would anyone want to pay $100 plus a year to pay the highest prices in the city????
In the first place, people aren't inclined to distrust Costco as they are Bank of America when their fees increased, given the latter's role in the 2008-09 financial crisis. And secondarily, Costco appears to have avoided the PR nightmare that accompanied Netflix's announcement to increase its fees and split into two separate companies.Come November, Costco will once again be more expensive than rivals Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale. Loyalists will argue that it's worth it, and paying an extra $5 or $10 a year isn't much.
Its interesting how in different parts of the country the Costco experience is so much divergent from each other. You mention Kroger and how they provide such a superior product to Costco. Here in Arizona, the Kroger affiliate, Frys Food, doesnt hold a candle to Costco. The meat, produce and general customer service at Costco far outperform the Kroger affiliate. The gas prices at Costco are the lowest in the Phoenix area, even with the Kroger discount plan.
Only $5? Not too bad considering the economy. We have the executive membership and AmEx card and get most of our membership fee back in rewards anyway. A minor membership fee increase will not stop or slow our shopping there.
What nexflix did was beyond a minor fee increase.
