Valero Energy Corporation Message Board

  • bws042257 bws042257 Aug 1, 2006 11:10 PM Flag

    explaining the inexplicable

    exceeds sales and earnings expectations

    best quarter ever

guides for more of the same

and yet the stock price drops

    why?

    overvalued?

    overpriced?

    some dark secret?

    short pressure?

for those of us who have been in and around the market for years, we know that sometimes the answers are not easily forthcoming - and sometimes there are no answers at all, save for the knowledge that marketmakers can manipulate any stock and give the impression that it has or does not have - legs...

the people here who claim to be short are full of shit...shorts never bother with a message board..shorts are big time, serious investors...most likely, these people are either bored because they have haven't got the money to invest, disenchanted because they lost money here trying to make a quick score, or think that message board comments can have any effect on a stock...

these people are zeros and their comments are meaningless, unless you allow them into your head - which is what they want...

the sector and industry are strong, the company is well run, and the product is needed..

analysts called this for the mid 70s before the latest results and guidance...that will most likely be ratcheted up a bit...

whether it takes a day or a week, this stock is going to see the high 60s or low 70s...

    • 1. You may never find the real reason why the stock is going up or down, especially for oil stocks, which are manipulated heavily by MMs.

      2. VT is not just shorting VLO, he buys VLO as well. He is more like a swing trader. He trades with VLO cycles.

      3. "Short" is not only for serious investors.

I liked your post very much until you started prognosicating: I think you understate the coming pop. I expect it to be closer to $80 than to $70 by the end of the week. I'm buying more in the morning.
