I'm trying to put together a small portfolio of, say, 3 to 5 companies who specialize in the manufacture of food products for human consumption from soy or other vegetables. I know that TOF is a good play for non-dairy desserts & snacks; but I also want to include a couple that produce meat substitutes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I understand that TOF has a new product called Quit Beef'n, or something like that. I have not tried it as it is not available this far from civilization, nor am I aware of any other promising plays on the meat substitute front.
Tofutti share price seems to have hit solid support at ~ $2/share, therefore probably a fairly safe bet at this price. This stock has a history of abrupt doubling or tripling of share price (see chart), followed by settling into a stable support level, and should therefore be watched pretty closely if you choose to buy.
Downside risk of buying TOF at this price is the cost of NOT putting your money somewhere else. With the market being what it is, this is probably not a significant risk, IMHO.
