No one can argue with the credentials of George Scalise, ATMI's newest board member. One could ask why the board didn't take the opportunity to bring in someone from outside the industry that could help to challenge atmi's management team in ways they had not yet considered. Another option could have been to bring in someone from the bio tech industry to advise on atmi's newest new product hype, the bio bags. I would offer up one additional opinion. Considering that Mr. Scalise is also on Internolecular's board, and ATMIs new product revenue is clearly not living up to Doug's hype from his investment in the r&d robots, I wonder if Dave Lezovsky of intermolecular had significant sway in getting Mr. Scalise on atmi's board to really see what the management team and the current board is doing. If I were Mr. Lazovsky I would have done that, considering how ATMI's use of the intermolecular technology does not appear to be a ringing endorsement. Time will tell how all of this plays out for Doug. Tick tock.
