YUM certainly has enough real problems to address; we don't need rumors. Even if these cases are real the consumers should know that you don't get sick just by eating properly cooked chicken. A real issue is the expanding debt of YUM in what may be a new interest paradigm. A real issue relates to the growing competition by local stores that use the KFC model but add to the receipt a little of the local culture. A final real issue is the need for YUM to fund stores in smaller cities as a result of losing sales in the established large cities to the local providers. The final real issue is the dubious Chinese economy. Like all governments the stats are often less than honest. At some junction the government will probably have to stop building cities that essentially devoid of population. They will have to address the aging population and the enormous encumbered costs of providing health care for this demographic. These are real issues and they will require of YUM, MCD and any other company in the region some degree of caution and prudence.
