Somone beside the usual clods on results?

I get lost in my own ignorance at not knowing how to read into these things.

My scrambled thoughts: An entity considered aquiring Cerebus' stake and hired Goldman to advise on rest of shares, then decided against. Hence the takover story.

Is selling aircraft at lease end the way these co's make the bucks, like auto rentals? Maybe they should offer extra insurance, or a GPS, when the lessee picks the plane up.

    • No, the rumor has nothing to do with the Cerberus sale. Either a fund started a rumor to sell some shares, or Aercap was calling around about a potential sale and someone in the press blew it out of proportions.

Often, there is residual value in the planes when they sell and they can recognize additional profit. This is usually where any "surprise" in earnings comes from.

Earnings this quarter were OK, lease revenue contracted a bit, but the main loss was due to the Kingfisher releasing. We got the reserves as revenue last quarter but then had to pay out to maintain and release it this quarter. So it made last quarter look better than it should have, and it made this quarter look worse. I think we will still earn over $2.00/share (especially as share count shrinks) this year.
