RE future generations: the looming danger few discuss openly is political dissension of such a high intensity it will feel like secession. The long term survivability of the federal gov't essentially functioning as a tax collector for the Chinese is doubtful. This USA is a huge land mass and the urge to have a free homeland is so great I imagine a secessionist movement with sound money and sane fiscal policies may be irrepressible.
There is a lot of secession talk that has been in the news lately, especially in the last couple of days following the election. A story at the Examiner is titled: “Citizens in 15 states file petitions to secede from United States”.
Sorry. The link would be provided, but Yahoo, in their infinite wisdom, has even thwarted efforts to disguise urls. Just place the title of the article in your browser and the link will become available.
These petitions (authorized within the first amendment to the US Constitution) emphasize that their desire to secede be a peaceful one that the central government should accept as the will of a majority within the particular states.
People are tired of carrying the load from those who do not contribute to their own survival, but rely on Federal and state government handouts, whether it is those corporations deemed too big to fail or individuals on public assistance. Much of this is the result of a refusal of elected officials to follow their oath to follow and uphold the US Constitution. As stated many times before from this screen name, most of the dissatisfaction results from the usage of counterfeit (fiat) money that removes fiscal discipline from governing bodies and allows all sorts of mischief that runs counter to the public interest. That is a rather broad statement that encloses all the particulars, such as the buying of votes in elections by union and banking interests so their agendas will be adhered to, and which everyone else will be forced to pay for through increased taxes or the invisible inflation tax.
This cyclical nature of these events has been encapsulated in what has been called: The Fatal Sequence
“Great nations rise and fall in a 200 year cycle. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage."
