ATVIs cash horde will now be close to

ERTS. They announced a secondary after talking up the stock. I am sure Goldman is happy about that. I expect that ATVI will use the cash for more aquisitions. I expect more consolidation in the sector over the next few months.

If AKLM bust out of its trading range it is not neccessarily a good short Rab. You have to determine why it broke out of the range. If it is because a game is selling well then your suggestion is foolhardy. Also experienced traders dont usually short a stock just when it breaks out of a trading range or through resistance. That is a fine way to lose you shirt witness what happened to many other gaming stock such as TTWO, ATVI, THQI at various time over the last 2 years. When a stock breaks resistance the safest thing to do is to go long or remain nuetral.

    • I'll have everyone know that I didn't buy TTWO for the quality or content of their games. Despite the SEC's cloud of investigations, it continues to look strong.

Forget the market, ERTS and TTWO should break out any day now. :-)

    • When is Activision NOT "talking up the stock"? Those crooks are going to end up in jail if they aren't careful.

    • RIMM? Damnit, I missed my chance with that one 15 months ago. I tried to short it around $75 (now $15) but Waterhouse said no shares available. So I traded puts for small profit but I'd rather have had the shares.

I covered THQI this morning and hopefully it'll go up again for another entry.

What part of Canada are you from, if you don't mind me asking? I love Vancouver, are you anywhere around there?

    • I dont have any cheerleader friends. I am a lone wolf up here in the great white north. I know it is not up your alley but I continue to believe that some of the best shorts on the market are still to be found among wireless stocks like RIMM and Sierra Wireless software stocks like SEBL and telecom stocks including AT&T.

    • "I continue to believe that THQI is the best short in the sector not AKLM."

I agree with you, but the analysts don't :-) I think we'd both agree not to follow their advice - see the most recent upgrade of THQI and downgrade of ATVI for example. And I think your cheerleader friends have probably had those price targets for longer than the analysts!

Absolutely. What I anticipate is some hype in advance of Turok then Vexx, and I don't expect either to do well or to meet expectations in which case I expect it to be a good short. Remember I've played those games and their competition, and I'm intimately familiar with game construction so I know they have more work remaining than time. I don't expect Turok's quality to be high which will in turn harm confidence in the AKLM name before Vexx ships. The farce of Dave Mirra XXX, a sequel to an all ages game now containing porn and other adult themes, will not help. Recent price action in the sector suggests a lack of confidence in AKLM and any indication that they're not meeting expectations will start the downward spiral. And I plan to be there for it.

        . . .

        >>> When you have a small publisher banking on a few major titles, then if you can predict how those titles will perform then you can predict the stock. So there's no emotion, just an absolute certainty that I'm right. Some would call that arrogance but there are few who understand product development better than myself (there's the arrogance again!), and if you knew my job position and current game I'm sure you'd agree :-) <<<

LOL. Rab Rab, you are so full of it!!!!

I could say the same about GTA3. What is left for the sequel once the shock effect is gone? Watch what happened to Mortal Kombat sequels. There are probably GTA3 owners who bought the game out of curiosity and wouldn't plan to buy the sequel.

Oh does it? I am not so sure about that. There must be some better shorts out there than AKLM Rab. You may make ome money or you may end up getting your balls served up on a platter. I try to stick to shorting stocks that I feel have a realistic chance of dropping significantly becuase of one short term event or have a longer therm chance of dropping at least 50%. Shorting is dangerous enough but this ugly market has made it apppear to be easy. Be careful.
