    Here is your run-up news:

There are many articles on this "new" console, but this is the only one that had photos:

    • >Neither. Jacking off in public in front of children at a playground.

I knew a manager from a CostCo that had to deal with that once. Some guy jacking off in the parking lot. She sent out some guy to talk and he said "Uh, can I help you?" and the jacker replied "No, I handle things just fine."

      True Story.

    • "Okay, I know I know, Mr. Sushi, you also wanna know where Drac is. But first, tell me one thing. What was he in for? Owing back taxes or child pornography? "

Neither. Jacking off in public in front of children at a playground.

Heh - I had the same thought - but as a built in *desirable* user feature, I'd think it'd be for tuninng *out* bullsh*tter's posts - kind of like a 'spam filter' ;-)

    • You are one hot sexy baby!

    • >Very odd conversations you have here. Am I just imagining or wasn't the PS1
      >also called PSX? So, what's the deal here? Is BS'er pushing more garbage?

Apparently PSX was the *codename* of the original 'Playstation'. So, in theory this isn't confusing. But it is.

Yeah, I liked that one too. :-)

Anyway, it really stands for 'Broadcast Satellite'. This actually raises interesting issues with regard to GMH, DISH, and TIVO.

"With the exception of the console's 120GB hard drive and built-in Ethernet support, the PSX console's new features won't offer any benefits as far as gaming is concerned, but--thanks to the inclusion of a TV and broadcast satellite tuner and a DVD recorder--it will instead transform the PlayStation 2 into a set-top box capable of delivering online play, music, and movies straight out of the box. "

    • Me, fanboy? Nah, I try and stick to the facts and look at this from an investing perspective. I agree that PSX is a test of the waters for including some (or all) of what is in PSX into PS3. And I agree a bit with greatdepression2000 that Sony is slipping somewhat in consumer electronics and this is an attempt at economies of scale (in a sense) by including 2 or 3 things in one box at a higher price than any of those 2 or 3 alone but less than those 2 or 3 purchased individually.

Now, my thoughts on ERTS and the gamer are that for those who were on the fence about a PS2 or those who've never had a gaming system...since PSX is geared toward average consumer (be they gamer or not) and average consumer male usually likes sports it's possible many would in the off season go "hey, that Madden 2004 is only $15.00 now....football seasons over, i'll give that PS2 on my PSX a try". If this even happened to 50,000 - 100,000 non-gamers it could have a great impact on ERTS's bottom line, it would catch someone who'd be a sports game buyer from that point and pop for the $50.00 to get Madden 2005, or even get a PS3 eventually. That's just one example. I think this is the sort of "collateral damage" Sony is hoping for, with the benefactors being Sony and game developers :)
