    June NPD report

Interesting, Wedbush Morgan's preview points out that June's overall VG sales will be 'disappointing' due to tough YoY comparison but most VG stocks are rising today. I think the market is looking 'forward' to robust 2nd half VG sales instead of looking 'back' to the June sales. When the May NPD report was released last month showing declining sales of TTWO and ATVI due to difficult YoY comparison, these 2 stocks didn't tumble at all.

""Are u sure about AKLM owning it in 1996? The running joke in 1996 was that even tho aklm had the exclusive license that EA came up only several thousand units short of winning the football category on N64. My apologies if my memory is inaccurate."

My apologies too for the same reason! I don't have the sales numbers handy but I was under the impression Acclaim owned, but again only because of the license. Once both had licenses Acclaim were crushed. "

    • "R, I had heard the $15m number thrown around last year, and under normal circumstances, I might have believed it, except...."

It's not really important, but if you check the article in Wired (Jan issue, online) which included extensive interviews with EA people and was essentially a multi-page advertisement, that's where the numbers came from. Since EA surely had approval on that article about them I have no reason to think the numbers presented are wrong.

    • That is why we're all here, you're right. My own view is that boysenberry jam is better than any other jam you can name. Based just on fundamentals alone it's a no brainer to be long on boysenberry jam.

    • no issues, man. we're all trying to share our views. mine is no more or less valuable or important as anyone else's.

      keep 'em comin' ;o)

    • <<Hey, I'm cool with that. A lot of rumors are published. >>

You are right. Sorry about that.

    • >BS. That info has been published and in the open from a long time ago

Hey, I'm cool with that. A lot of rumors are published.

    • <<<<<<<<<<<<<>Btw where do you get the info that VC wants out?

      Let's just say thatit's a small developer community. >>>>>>>>>>>>

BS. That info has been published and in the open from a long time ago.

    • i agree. in addition, despite the fact that I think erts is fairly valued at these levels, it may go up even higher next week due to the iema show if ceo is as outspoken about madden this year as he was last year. remember that madden has, for all practical purposes, zero major competitors in the football category this year (not that Sega's NFL 2KE selling 350K units vs. Madden's 3.5m units was a major competitor). But there is no one this year making any noise about challenging madden in the category.

Exactly . . . not really any competition last year, so do you really expect them to do any better this year? Is there a sudden increase in videogame football players?

Sega is still there and they are touting their new 'first person' mode . . . but they hardly have any buzz at all. Even in the xbox category where they will have xbox live but ERTS will not.
