    swtor sales down

sales are dropping quickly. had been about 70K a week just a few weeks ago. now down to 36K a week.

without national TV advertising campaign, the sales are dropping fast. the next conference call will be a disappointing one for investors. the company just doesnt seem to be able to execute on their digital strategies.

    • if you werent so fanatical about ATVI we would be best friends lol. i dont see atvi going anywhere the next two years. im sticking to a solid reit or ko or dps

    • For once I agree with you jumpingsheep,

Swtor has had very good initial sales but is bound to be a major disapointment.

Reading dedicated forums helps understanding that the game is flawed and that there is little or no room for improvement.

Right now, not only sales are slowing down dramatically but retention rate seems to be very worrying. On XFire the number of daily users has gone from 12000 to 6000 in less thant 1 month and a half.

The thing is that not only do investors have high expectations for SWTOR, but EA's business plan for 2012 is based on good retention performances.

Thus, not only will we have a huge dispointment with future SWTOR subcribers annoucements, but also a profit warning for the company.

    • vgchartz figures are understated. EA's Origin accounts for a significant chunk of SWTOR sales.

      • actually, the vgchartz were right about on for sales through end of last year at 2 million units which is what EA reported. the chart may be off 10-20%, but the fast loss of sales after TV ended would apply across channels.

EA will need to admit that SWTOR is under-performing next earnings call. the stock got a bump today due to the ME3 trailer released yesterday. i have no doubt that game will be a massive hit, but that wont be enough to offset the weakness across other parts of the business.
