Wonder why a post I made this evening expressing my utter contempt with EA and its Origin Service after what is turning out to be a disastrous launch of SimCity has disappeared?
Does EA think forcing players to connect to their servers. even play a solo game. is a good idea when they can't handle the player load or keep the servers up? Forums, Twitter and Facebook are full of outraged gamers swearing they will never bother with another EA game because of their experience thus far with SimCity. People are at least claiming to be seeking refunds for the game and if the issues are not resolved by tomorrow evening I think I will join them in that pursuit.
Publishers/developers are going to really alienate a bunch of people with these online services. Provides no real value to most players and just results frustration and annoyance most of the time. You think we want these services running in the background of our computers? Like having ads and specials pop up when we launch or close a game? Wait till the first round of old games become unprofitable to keep a server up and running? No more pulling out a old favorite you paid for and still enjoy from time to time.
Some one will wise up to this sooner or later and start putting out player friendly games/policies. When they do, that's the company I want to be invested in.
