      • Here's the text from the entir section from
yesterday's MMWIRE. These are ranked by units, not dollars.
Thay may be the reason for the
        discrepancy.

        1998

        Infogrames CEO
Bruno Bonnell said watching the finals of the
        World
Cup was difficult. Brazil's Ronaldo, who recently
        signed a
        soccer-title deal with Infogrames, was
playing against Bruno's home country, France. We agree,
watching the World Cup was difficult. Would someone please
shoot the ball! Well, out of sight, out of mind. The
N64 and PSX versions of EA's [ERTS] World Cup '98 are
goners from the sports chart. Tis the season for actual
tackles (not slide) and good ol' armchair quarterbacking.
Football, bringing gamers out of the woodwork, scored four
of the Top 5 sports games this month. Console
football gaming, like the smell of burning leaves, is what
this time of year is all about. --- Ok, so Sega's last
few platforms haven't exactly set retailer shelves on
fire. But no one can frown on Sega for its software.
(Sonic, the feature character in a slew of amazing Sega
titles, was once reportedly more popular than Mickey
Mouse.) Despite the fact that Saturn's installed base is
a fraction of N64's and PSX's in the US, Shining
Force 3 cracked the Top 10 among story titles. Gamers
flock to platforms for the games, and Sega's RPG was a
shining example. Falling from the story chart was
short-timer Granstream Saga from THQ [THQI] and Final Fantasy
Tactics from Sony [SNE]. But back to Shining Force 3, it
was Sega's graceful exit of 32-bit. --- Mike
        Sabine
