    NPD'S TOP-SELLING VIDEO GAMES 8/30-9/12

    from MMWIRE:

    NPD'S TOP-SELLING VIDEO
GAMES, AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 12 (RANKED BY UNITS
    SOLD)

The beginning of the lean Q3's final month was a good
one for PlayStation software. PSX can claim 13 games
in the Top 20 to N64's seven. That's is from 11 that
PSX tallied during August. N64 slips include:
Nintendo's Waialae Country Club from No. 7 and Infogrames'
Mission Impossible from No. 10. --- Supported by TV
advertising, Parasite Eve for PSX made the strongest debut of
the nine newcomers. However, we've seen all but two
of the nine newbies before. The exceptions are
Parasite Eve and the N64 version of NFL Blitz. Crash
Bandicoot 2, Cool Boarders 2 and Twisted Metal 2 are all
back on the chart, this time as $20 games. Crash 3,
Cool 3 and Twisted 3 are each on the way. Similarly,
Tekken 3, which fell out, gave way to renewed interest
in Tekken 2, another $20 title. We haven't seen this
much sequel success since "The Godfather II." And due
to the popularity, and possible selling out, of WWF
War Zone on two platforms, THQ's [THQI] WCW vs. The
World (PSX) and WCW vs. NWO: World Tour (N64) returned
to the chart. WCW vs. NWO on N64 is also part of
Nintendo's sub-$40 pricing plan. Oh yeah, Goldeneye 007,
which climbed two spots, is also in the sub-$40 plan.
Now that almost isn't fair, is it? ---

      Thanks for
posting the NPD info, Like_2_watch, we sure appreciate
      it.

I have to say that I'm dissappointed on
how the industry is competing too
      heavily with
itself. All the low priced games (<=$21 for PSX and
      <=$40 for N64) are
eating up sales. More than half
      (11) of the chart was taken up by these 1/2 price
      budget
titles. The only people that are really
benefitting are Nintendo & Sony. *sigh*
