I think call volume, or put volume for that matter, is a contrary indicator. Cramer did an interesting piece called Maxpain Option Analysis that detailed how the price of a stock will be forced to the strike that will allow the greatest number of all option contracts to expire worthless. This stike price that the stock finds on expiry day is closely correlated to the underlying securities option open interest, not volume. I agree, thats where max-pain is. Also noticed there is some heavy play on the april 60 calls, which lends me to believe they will try to hold it down till after expiration. Either that, or their protecting themselves against a run-up.
i've noticed that this holds true in only about 75% of the cases. They try their best but things don't work out perfect for them all the time.
