I just went into Galyan's yesterday and it appears they have expanded the warm weather COLM items from last year. Anyone have sales projections for shorts, short sleeve shirts etc. for the next couple of quarters?
Don't know exactly but did see an article in the WSJ on Wed. March 20 which states:
"The company's sportswear sales, which rose 15% in 2001, are expected to improve this year, Mr. Boyle said, noting that design changes should boost sales in the fall.
To enhance its sportswear sales, which typically pick up in the spring, Columbia has increased its penetration into department stores...."
The article is on page B5D and I thought it had a very positive feel to it. I get the feeling that a lot of people are shocked that Columbia did as well as it did during a winter that has been atrocious for companies that sell "bad winter weather" kind of stuff.
Oh, also, Boyle says that the company will provide updated financial projections when it releases its first quarter results April 25.
