Columbia Sportswear Company Message Board

    Future Prospects

I think we are all frustrated with the market
    lately. Every
rally attempt seems to be aborted. I
    have been watching
this board for some time, and
    have noticed an increasing
    negativism, so I decided
    to contact their Director of
    Investor Relations,
Sean Beers. He was quite cordial, and cites
    the
fact that all of their main competitors,
    Timberland,
Nike, and The North Face have also been struggling
    lately.
He also said that they are actively working with
    Wall Street
to increase sell side coverage. He also
    says they have a well
    articulated growth strategy,
    and don't believe in hyping
    the
    company.

This looks like a good mid to long term holding, and
    if they
meet their 84 cents per share estimate
    next quarter, I believe
    we should see a great
improvement in the next couple months,
    and would consider
    the current price a bargain.

    If anyone would
like to contact Sean Beers, his number is:

    • Thanks for the useful information. I agree that
Sean Beers is very responsive to specific questions. I
do have a question for you or anyone else that can
answer. What is a sell side coverage? You mentioned it in
your post and I never heard of this term.
