    running, walking, scaffold only, protocol....

the noise regarding this is at a ridiculous level in here... and I appreciate the longs including myself being persistent in defending the science....

the scaffold only is not the scaffold only... There will be an anti-inflammatory administered that will also have an effect on the sci, just not embedded within the scaffold... all longs know how the breakthrough scaffold procedure integrates into the all too routine surgery in these cases... its on the website...

The first patient is part of a first in human study and of course the protocol will be rigorous... I would believe that the patient will be in a wheelchair for the first month or two regardless of the level of function return... One would be more than compliant with anything the trial requires experiencing such a tragic injury....

InVivo has a lot of pioneering work ahead and hope they bring the three level one trauma centers on line as soon as possible...

    • flsh, since they have to run the trial patients in serial, why can't they just get one facility ready, why all three. Seems like this would save time.

      • I believe they are in Boston, Philly and DC area which cover a great portion of the northeast... saving time does not seem to be viable versus getting this right.... having 3 facilities online is more than just convenience and looking out further than the first patient.... those 3 trauma centers will garner their fair share of attention upon any success of the scaffold and the trial could be redesigned by the fda at some point...

        Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • The scaffold only will be exactly that. there will be no anti-inflammatory administered, because it will cloud the effect of the scaffold and invalidate the trial.
Moreover, a lateral myelotomy is not "all too routine surgery in these cases". In fact, it almost never happens in spinal cord contusion injuries. It is only performed in cases where a tumor is found in the spinal cord.
Nearly all spinal cord injuries are treated withe decompression and stabilization. The dura mater is rarely opened, and myelotomies are almost never performed.

Why are these "longs" afraid to ask critical questions? Is it because they are afraid you will not like the answer?

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
