Always dubious of such a strong action! Matrix is not a listed follower of cmp! Look for upgrade from DB. All looks good for cmp, did they give a reason for downgrade? If it has to do with insider selling thats bullS%*^.
Keep in mind, One snow storm does not a winter make.
For many places, or even most places, in CMP's market, the number of "occurrences" of snow this winter will still be far below the mean. Another two or three of these robust storms, not necessarily of the magnitude of the current sotrm but similar, along with a few more storms of lesser severity, would be needed to bring the winter back to one that could be labeled as "normal". Keep in mind that the area in New York with 11 feet of snow is actually quite small. Drive 75 miles out of that town, in any direction, and you are looking at totals under two feet (beware; heading west will put you in the lake and you'll be very cold and wet). There was a great map the other day in the NY Times.
This Jan-Mar quarter will look great compared to the same quarter in 2006, which was basically horrible.
Unless the remaining six-weeks or so of winter turn out some decent snow events, I would look for CMP to back off it's current price, as amy muniicpalities will still end up the year with large stock piles and the need to order pre-season will be lessened.
FYI, I love this company, and have been long in the past, but I currently own zero shares. I simply wanted to pass on info on the weather front.
