Wish these guys would get going on Lithium (for advanced batteries - not just cell phones and GPS, but now going into automobiles). The world supply is limited and lithium is typically found in salt deposits. Argentina, Bolivia and Chile have the biggest wn-hemisphere reserves. But maybe Compass just need to LOOK and see what it will cost to separate Li from Na, K. I cannot reach anyone at shareholder contact.
I've wondered about that some time ago. Shortly aftewards it came up on the last conference call.
"We have neighbors on the lake that mine magnesium metal.
So, yes, we do look at the economics and demand of all of those metals and minerals that are in the lake. We haven't made any definitive decision one way or the other to enter into any other production. Our focus right now is on expanding SOP.
But certainly, harvesting additional metals and minerals from the Great Salt Lake is always part of our long-term planning."
